TAIJIQUAN (Tai Chi Chuan), known in our region as Chinese Shadow Boxing, is a martial art developed in Imperial China which is today practiced by several million people around the world and is therefore one of the most frequently practiced martial arts. In China, Taijiquan is a national sport. In city parks you see many people in the morning practicing slow, flowing movements. Because the doctrine of these sciences applies particularly to the harmonious play of opposites, symbolized by the well-known symbol of yin and yang. Chinese sword fighting is one of the most important weapon arts of Taijiquan. The movements of the Tai Chi sword are expressive and elegant. Thus speed and slowness, hardness and softness complement each other. It is very important to ensure that all movements are performed calmly, harmoniously and lively. The sword and the body thus form an inseparable unit. Thus, the sword and Qi (inner force) merge. The Tai Chi sword (Jian) is the double-edged straight Chinese sword.
